How I Stopped Second-Guessing Every Hiring Decision
A while back, I had two candidates for a role in my business.
Both looked great on paper.
And I sat there for actual days, rereading their applications, trying to talk myself into one or the other.
That back and forth was the expensive part.
Every day I was stuck on the decision, the task that person would eventually take on was still sitting on my plate. And if I picked wrong, I'd be right back here again in a month.
So I built a tool for it - The Hire With Confidence Evaluator.
Either keep reading or watch the video below:
Who This Is For
This tool is for your shortlisted candidates - the ones who already made it past your initial application review and completed a test task.
You're not running every applicant through this. Just the people you're genuinely deciding between.
If you're not at that stage yet - if you're still figuring out what to even hand off, or what role you're hiring for - that's a separate step, and I have a full course for that called the Stress-Free Hiring System.
How It Works
For each candidate, you enter:
The role you're hiring for
Application notes - what stood out about them
Test task notes - your observations on their work
Conversation notes - how the interview went
Scores from 1 to 10 on email instructions followed, test task quality, skills and experience, communication, culture fit, and growth potential
Any red flags you noticed
Your gut reflection on the person overall
Once you've done that for each candidate, you click one button and the tool gets to work.
What You Get Back
Within about 30 to 60 seconds, it sorts your candidates into strong yes, yes, maybe, and no - based on everything you put in.
Click into any candidate and you'll see an overall assessment, their strengths based on your notes and scores, any concerns or red flags, and a hiring recommendation with the reasoning behind it.
And then there's the gut-check prompt. This is the part I'm proudest of, honestly.
Because sometimes the data points to a strong yes, and your gut still has something to say. The tool doesn't override that - it asks you to sit with it for a second instead of just going with the highest number.
Your instincts still matter here. This tool is meant to back you up, not replace you.
Why This Saves So Much Mental Energy
That back and forth feeling - flipping between two open tabs in your head, rereading the same applications, trying to feel your way to an answer - is so much easier to get out of when it's actually laid out in front of you.
Most of the time, the answer was already there. You just couldn't see it clearly yet.
The Hire With Confidence Evaluator is $27, and you can grab it here.
And if you're earlier in the process and need help figuring out what to hand off first, The Stress-Free Hiring System walks you through everything before this point.
